After the war people are being resettled in their own places.  52 Children from the Children groups in our seven target villages in Karainagar were taken on a cultural tour  to Thiruketheswaram on 26th  & 27th of May 2012 to participate in the” Kodi ” (Flag) hoistering festival day.

 Religious talks were arranged for these Children at  Ammaiappan Mandabam, where Vidwan , Arulmoliarasi, Vashantha Vaithyanathan deliverd a religious talk suitable for the children. Saivapulavar Sellathurai, Retired Principal of Ilawalai Meihandan Vithyalam and Coordinator of Inthumandram, also delivered religious talks.

Children have seen the Kaddukkkaraikulam in Mannar. They visited Madumatha Church  on their way back. They had a chance of meeting Vavuniya Children group members.

These 52 Children from Children groups from Kaarainagar had an opportunity of visiting important religious places and to know the value of our culture and Hindu religion.

17 Women headed families who have lost their husbands in the war situation in Batticalo, were allocated Rs. 100,000/= for each family as their livelihood assistance. Rs 50,000/=  was issued to each family as the first installment.

A six month sewing training course was commenced for 20 women at Cheddikkulam DS Division in Vavuniya District on 01.11.2011 by CFCD in collaboration with CEFCO.  The Selected beneficiaries consisted of young widows, women who have lost their parents and selected young women who are under the poverty line.

Aim of this six months sewing training is to provide complete knowledge about sewing various types of garments through which they may develop their own profession and raise their income to achieve higher standard of living.

This sewing training was successfully completed and a sewing exhibition was conducted on 11.05.2012 by the students at Cheddikkulam Sewing Training Center. The Divisional Secretary of  Cheddikkulam Mr. N. Kamalathasan, CFCD,Presidebt Mr. C.V.K. Sivagnanam and CFCD Programme Secretary Mr. T. Thevathas participated as quests and graced the occasion. In this occasion, certificates were issued to those who are trained in sewing. 

DS Mr. N. Kamalathasan confirmed in his speech that  he would take necessary steps to provide job opportunities for the young women who have completed their sewing training course , in the garment factory which will be  started shortly in that region.

The next sewing training course will be commenced shortly.

A talk shop was held on  16 & 17 April, 2012 at J/ Thiyagarajah Maha Vidyalayam in Karainagar. 40 children participated in this talk shop and expressed their talents in talking by sharing their problems.

They learned to identify the problems faced and ways to solve them. This talk shop helped them to communicate freely with their peers and how to locate resources needed to solve their problems.

They enthusiastically participated and exhibited their ability of talking and developed their oratorical skills. They improved their leadership qualities and team work abilities.
